## Accelerate

### Who is the Accelerate stream designed for?

The programmes offered within the Accelerate stream have been uniquely designed to cater for the future career needs of young adults between the ages of 18 and 25.

Our Career Accelerator residential programme is designed for third and fourth year university students who are nearing graduation and would benefit from intensive development on how to navigate their early career choices and shine in a competitive job market. The range of opportunities provided throughout the week offers practical experience, executive level advice and essential workplace skills training. There is ongoing mentorship offered post programme.

### Why would I enrol in an Accelerate programme?

Our aim is to make the transition from school to university and into the workforce a more informed pathway. The employment landscape has become increasingly complex to navigate and we understand the challenges young people face in obtaining good career advice, as well as the workplace skills organisations need from graduates. Making good career decisions and knowing how to present in your early career will likely influence your work-life happiness and opportunities. Our extensive industry connections, partnerships with universities, research into graduate skills and commitment to assisting young adults on their career path has allowed us to design a world class programme that bridges the gap.

Our graduates of the programme explain the transformational learning that has taken place and the enormous opportunities that have arisen out of the mentorship they received.

### What are the fees associated with the Accelerate programme?

The fee for each programme depends on the service we are providing. The cost schedule can be found on our website at

### What will I receive on completion of the programme? Do Universities and workplaces recognise the learning?

Each student who successfully completes the programme will receive a certificate of completion. We encourage this certificate to be shared on professional social media, as the extensive links we have to organisations make it a highly regarded early career programme. Potential employers will view the participation in this course favourably.

Whilst this programme is not recognised as prior learning for university courses, they are considered when students are applying for competitive courses, scholarships or alternative entry pathway into university. Additionally, some university courses require work placement hours to graduate, and our course is likely to be recognised in contributing towards this requirement.

### Who is involved with leading the programme?

The programme leaders are renowned business professionals and teaching and learning experts who have had decades of experience in training and development. Our staff are friendly, approachable, have plenty of knowledge to share and make the experience fun. Along with the speakers and partnerships that can be found in our Career Accelerator brochure, please also visit our staff page.

### What if I want to take a programme but can’t afford the fees at this time?

Whilst there are no formal scholarships available for students, we may be able to source funding depending on your personal circumstances. We have strong partnerships with numerous school alumni, university departments and corporate organisations, who have on occasion, provided funding for capable students to participate in our programmes. If you are unsure if this exists for you, please contact us and we will be able to offer you further information.

### What does a residential programme mean and what can I expect?

Our residential programme requires students to live on campus for the duration of the programme. All participants are accommodated in the Scotch College Senior School Boarding House and meals are served three times a day in our dining room. Dietary requirements are catered for when the information is provided on enrolment.

Our accommodation offers comfortable, single lockable rooms, and shared social spaces for students to connect at the end of each day. There are communal bathrooms for each wing of the residence with separate toilet and shower facilities for female and males.

Students will need a learning device (laptop), notebook, bedding for accommodation (sheets provided), both a range of casual and business attire, plus an appetite for learning about your future work and career development.

### Do I need to attend the full five days of the residential programme?

Yes, this programme has been designed to be delivered over the five days. The programme starts early (usually with Yoga or Mindfulness) before breakfast is served then a full day of learning and activity prior to the evening/dinner speakers. Attendance is required for the full five days.

Pre-online educational modules and pre-reading is required prior to the programme. It is anticipated this learning will take approximately six hours.

### What if I don’t know anyone attending?

Most of our students don’t know anyone prior to attending the programme. However, the residential style of the programme allows for time to create a network of like-minded students and lasting alumni. Please read our testimonials from previous students who feel that a key strength of the programme were the connections they made.

Our graduates of the programme explain the transformational learning that has taken place and the enormous opportunities that have arisen out of the mentorship they received.
