# Care and wellbeing

While our students may be studying online, we have used our many years of experience delivering pastoral programmes, to ensure that we prioritise student to student, and student to teacher, personal connection wherever possible each day of the learning journey.

## Care and wellbeing

Wellbeing is the capacity to function fully or effectively in all conditions and circumstances. It’s about coping, contributing and thriving to live life well.

Wellbeing does not mean being happy all time. It means being equipped to make the best of every situation; being capable of overcoming adversity and persevering in pursuit of a goal; and being willing to do what we can for offers. Resiliency is an important part of any student’s well-being profile.

Health and wellbeing in the Connect programme is an important aspect of maintaining a balanced academic programme, and as such, our school integrates this into the weekly timetable so we can foster a connected community and explicitly teach important skills which sit outside the curriculum. Our school day starts with connecting with each other as a group before commencing the teaching programme for the day.

It is important as a community we are responsible for our own health and the health of the others. This is a compulsory aspect of the curriculum with students attending two online health and wellbeing classes a week and a school assembly each fortnight.

While our students may be studying online, we have used our many years of experience delivering pastoral programmes, to ensure that we prioritise student to student, and student to teacher, personal connection wherever possible each day of the learning journey.

In essence, at Scotch Global we know that students learn better and have a much better chance of reaching their potential if they study, learn and grow with a group of like-minded and connected colleagues.
