## **This course seeks to inspire students aspiring to embark on a journey into medicine and other related health fields, by offering a comprehensive introduction to the broad skills and understanding it takes to pursue a medical career. You will delve into the captivating world of medicine, building a solid foundation in human biology, biochemistry, and public health, which are essential for understanding human health and illness.**

You will have the chance to explore various medical specialties, and exciting areas of medical science, offering a glimpse into the diverse pathways within the medical profession. This course not only imparts theoretical knowledge but also provides real world case studies and problem solving, encouraging you to put your learning into practice in order to cultivate critical thinking and problem solving skills.

With an emphasis on understanding the mechanism of disease and how this can influence treatment, critical thinking, and current evidence-based practice, our course is tailored to help you thrive in the evolving world of medicine.

Over the course of 18 weeks you will develop a deeper understanding of human biology, pathology, and how we can promote, understand and enhance health. You will learn about a range of topics relating to real-world issues, including:

1. **Public Health**: How organised efforts at a societal level can influence health
2. **Preventative Medicine**: Promoting health by preventing illness
3. **Medical Research**: How we are expanding our medical knowledge, and how to read and engage with medical literature
4. **Pharmacology**: How drugs work, and are used to treat disease
5. **Infectious Diseases:** Learn about how pathogens cause disease, and how this can be treated and prevented
